Welcome to Callander,

Callander is situated in the region of Stirling, but in the area of Perthshire and when on trips to thrilling places in the Highlands, is a humble, welcoming spot to relax in. Callander is a small but busy town with a high school, for children aged 12- 18 and it\'s train station open since 1870, linking to the large National Clyde Network. In Callander the statistics of people over the age of 65 is higher than that of The Nation Park all together. The largely popular, ten year running television series of Dr Casebook was filmed here, disguised as the imaginary town called Tannochbrae in 1962.

How far away is it?

Callander is located down the major north south trunk road around 65 miles from Glasgow and a small amount over 50 miles from the beautiful city of Edinburgh.

City Centre- Callander has three main employers which are Campbells the shortbread factory, The Leisure Centre and McLaren high school. Callander is home to where the first tray of perfectly baked, Campbells, shortbread was cooked- with its international success this business has grown astoundingly from a small village bakery. This bakery is now proudly named as Scotland’s longest running bakery from 1830 with a track record of 180 year and rightly so. Callander has a high rate of private nursing homes and even a 24-hour Support Unit. Callander has the first environmentally friend leisure Centre which a completely charitable organisation run by fantastic employees for the many locals and visitors. Leisure Centre provides access to the local Primary and High schools regularly and attracts interest from nearby towns with safety as one of their main priorities to ensure customers get ultimate satisfaction. The town is also in the middle of mind-blowing, Birds of Prey Trail, which from Aberfoyle through various small towns and farmland. This environment here is magnificent for these birds of prey, 13 species to be exact, will you be one of the lucky ones to see this rarity?

One of the most amazing museums which is highly under credited is located in Callander, The Hamilton Toy Collection Museum. This museum is originally an extension of a families guesthouse, from which all their antique toys and dolls managed to outgrow, this is open for visiting and has specialized rooms which are in turn specialized by each family member. For example the Mother of the family presents the bears making this a humble family business. Walks can be taken at Bracklinn Falls at an easy stroll, Bracklinn Falls can be one of the most popular walk in Callander. These Falls have an interesting myth about them; that England collided with Scotland, 410 million years ago, creating crunches between their land and uplifting this large horizontally standing slabs of rock which is now known as Bracklinn Falls, Callander Crags were supposedly created during this collision. With the small and large crevices, this site is perfect for challenging and smooth walks which is suitable for families or serious hikers!
